art

recently  i have begun collecting weird, old frames from thrift stores. originally, i wasn’t sure what i was going to do with them. but as time passed, i thought it would be a neat idea to incorporate them into my art. currently, i am using water based media and pencil on hand dyed paper. i don’t normally feel the need to frame them. instead, mount them on board or stretched canvas – no frame. but that changed when i started finding these frames.

some of the frames are small.  some are large. all are made of wood. i don’t think that i will frame every piece, just a select few. of course these frames pictured below, that have the rounded centers, will require custom pieces since i don’t normally make circular work….

here is one that i started painting…

i am not completely sure where it is going…but i do have a few ideas. the center circle is about 6″ in diameter and is proving to be a little difficult in regards to what kind of painting i want to add to it. i am trying not to worry too much about the end result, just having a little fun. hopefully i will post a picture of the end result sooner than later :)

Finding my way back…

Not to sound too melodramatic but I’ve got to make room for this, for art making, in my life on a consistent basis. If I don’t, I am afraid it will make everything else that I am doing – the self-employment that is supposed to ultimately allow me the time and money to make work and show work – almost not worth it.

So here we go. Back on the wagon. Here is a glimpse of what I’ve been working on. More to come. Stay tuned.
